LEARN ALL ABOUT PORCELAIN VENEER SYSTEMS
Pressed - Refractory - Platinum Foil - CAD/CAM |
 |
Pressed Ceramic Veneers - time tested for over 15 years
Pressed ceramics were introduced to North America in the early 90's and are a popular method of creating porcelain veneers. The veneer design is created in wax and the lost wax technique is used to create the restoration. The Empress System was introduced by Ivoclar in 1994. |
 |
Refractory Model Veneers - an original layering method
The refractory model method of veneer fabrication was one of the original methods and remains in use today. Traditional build-up porcelains are applied to a special model and fired. The stone model is blasted away during the final stages, before final trimming. |
 |
Platinum Foil Veneers - a traditional layering technique on foil
Platinum foil veneers are one of the original veneering methods and still used by some ceramists today.
Platinum foil is formed on the original model and supports traditional feldspathic porcelain buildup during the firing stages. At the final stage, the foil is stripped away and the veneer is etched. |
 |
CAD/CAM Veneers - a recent innovation
Veneers can now be designed and milled with the guidance of a computer. The entire veneer design is done on computer using esthetic veneer templates in 3D. Once the the 3D design is completed it can be milled out of various innovative ceramics. Staining and layered porcelain buildup can also be used for final esthetic results. |

Feldspathic Porcelains
Layered porcelain buildup
for outstanding esthetics.
A veneering tradition for 25 years.
|
Leucite Reinforced
60% stronger = 160 MPa
When extra strength is required.
Leucite crystals block crack propagation.
Strength with esthetics.
|
Lithium Disilicate
70% LD crystals - pressed or milled, 360-400 MPa. When stength is the priority.
A strong, dense crystaline structure

 |
Wax Mockup Design
What's not to love about wax mock-ups? Patients can see what a new smile could look like and take it home to show others too.
For dentists, they are a 3-D planning guide and are often used chairside, as a matrix to quickly build esthetic temporaries that will closely match the finished case. Finally, wax mock-ups guide the ceramist when making the veneers, It's all about case predictability.
|
|
 |
Esthetic Acrylic Try-in
Dentists can try-in a new smile on a patient for diagnostic purposes. Patients can see what a new smile could look even before treatment begins.
Patients can even wear them home.
Patients appreciate this motivational and educational tool and dentists can use them to diagnose esthetics and function.
This diagnostic tool performs best in well chosen cases, where teeth are to be lengthened or widened. |
|
 |
Smile Style and Smile Design
It's the shape of the incisal edges of the anterior teeth that helps determine the character of the smile.
Rounded contours individualize teeth and create a youthful, feminine smile. Masculine smiles have a more angular appearance. Masculine smiles appear broader.
Use Smile Styles for the design of your porcelain veneers, wax mock-ups, or Cosmetic Dental Imaging. It's all about control and predictability in your cases.
